Danny Notley has been painting for 36 years and knows his trade inside out.
At aged 16 after completing year 10, he secured a painting and decorating apprenticeship with Newcastle City Council and completed his painting and decorating certificate in 1993.
As a young man at age 20, Dan would spend the next eight years working with some of the biggest painting companies in Newcastle gaining experience on the tools and knowledge in the trade.
In 2001 Dan moved to the seaside town of Forster Tuncurry where he launched his own business. During this time he took on apprentices and trained other tradesman in his team in domestic and commercial work, as well as the odd industrial job such as intumescent coatings and industrial protected coatings for steelwork. He was a subcontractor for the NSW Government’s Department of Housing and fire safety upgrade during the mid 2000s where he predominately worked with intumescent coatings.
During this time he raised a family and set down roots in Blueys Beach, a stunning coastal town 20 minutes south of Forster. His painting business here focussed mainly on premium beach homes and holiday houses, with subcontract work for local builders, real estate agents, NSW National Parks and restaurants.
Dan relocated to Canberra in early 2025 for love and now calls Canberra home with his partner Toni. Dan finds he is happiest when on the tools and prefers to run smaller quality teams rather than large operations. When Dan is not working, he likes to keep fit and healthy with hiking, cycling and exploring the coastline. He is a keen amateur musician, playing guitar most days for relaxation and he is interested in classical guitar construction.
